Children's, Family Programs Get Boost from Heart & Sole 2013

Runners and walkers of all ages turned out Oct. 5 for the second annual Heart and Sole 5K Run/Walk at Happy Rock Park in Gladstone.

The event raised more than $4,500 that will help the agency provide Christmas and holiday gifts and dinners for approximately 50 underserved families, approximately 125 individual children and their families.

This represents more than double the net proceeds from last year. A big thanks goes to the generous support of Saint Luke’s North Hospital, Children’s Mercy Hospital, We-Mac Tanks, Antioch Community Church, The Bank of Orrick, the Pyland family, and Willowbrook. Other support came from T-REX, Fastkick, the Kansas City Zoo, The Roasterie, Panera Bread, Residence Inn Marriott, Perkins, ImageSource and Crossfit Northland.

More than 110 participants enjoyed beautiful fall weather and the recently extended trail from Happy Rock Park to Barry Road near Maple Woods College.

Tom Cranshaw, Tri-County CEO, congratulated the participants for their commitment to personal wellness while contributing proceeds for the benefit of Tri-County children and their families who otherwise would not be able to celebrate the holiday season this year.
